Celebrations

This week has been full of visits and celebrations.  We started off by introducing RLT to her first boyfriend!  Sarah and Scott brought over their precious little 4 month old.  Sarah and I have been friends since 6th grade, and we very conveniently had our first babies right around the same time!  Chad and I had such a good time playing with little SB, Sarah and Scott enjoyed some snuggle time with RLT, and then Chad and I scarfed down some delicious home-made Greek food.  Thanks Sarah and Scott!

SB-4 months       RLT-1 month

On Monday, December 10, RLT turned 1 month.  She was so incredibly lucky to go to the doctor that day.  Ha!

Daddy and RLT were both exhausted after the doctor's appointment!

Later that week, RLT decided to do something that her mommy and daddy REALLY appreciated!

And finally, we started celebrating the Christmas season this week.  Grammy and Grandpa came up from Atlanta, and we went to Breakfast with Santa!

Here are some more snapshots from the week:

RLT is 1 Month Old!

Our little girl is one month old today!

RLT has grown in the following ways:

Weight at Birth  6 lbs. 5 oz.       Weight at 1 Month  8 lbs. 7 oz

Height at Birth  19.75 in.           Height at 1 Month  20.5 in.

Our little nugget eats like a champ!  She basically eats every 2-3 hours and has even gone 4.5 hours before during the night.  Typically, though, she wakes up about every 3 hours during the night.  While she is a very healthy baby, she is starting to show slight signs of reflux.  She has started spitting up and we can hear her swallowing when she is lying on her back.

Developmentally, she is doing quite well.  She focuses and tracks with her eyes, turns her head from side to side, smiles, and has very strong legs.  This is evident when she kicks and screams due to gas!  Poor girl!

And finally, I need to give you more information regarding RLT's blurb in this post's picture.  She only cried a little bit at the doctor this morning.  She, in fact, only cried and slept the rest of the day.  Shots stink!

RLT's 4th Week

     As new parents we want to thank all of those who have come to visit, stayed the night to help, and brought meals.  It has been so nice to be able to focus on our precious little girl and not have to worry about planning dinner.  So, to all you snugglers and cooks out there, THANK YOU!

 These two are definitely another set of parents to me!

     Mom, RLT, and I went to visit Gi-Gi and check out her new condo in Indianapolis.  While we were there to help unpack boxes, there was definitely some time set aside to love on the baby.

     While at Gi-Gi's, RLT managed to get her arm stuck under her during Tummy Time.  She eventually rolled over.  Yup, our daughter, who was only 3.5 weeks old at the time, rolled over independently!  While we understand that this was a pure accident, we're taking it!!!

     We have three cats that are adjusting to the new way of life at our house.  The oldest, Little Foot, doesn't necessarily care.  She has not changed her lazy routine in the slightest!  Brenda, the tabby, has really taken to RLT in the past week.  She sniffs her, sits near her, and even crawls up on the rocking chair with us to snuggle!  And finally, Queenie, Chad's black kitty, continues to show her jealous side by just staring from afar.

     Of course, we have spent our days sleeping, eating, pooping, playing, learning, and growing.  (That list describes us all!  We hope that the only one growing, though, is RLT! Ha!)

Mom and Dad, I'm Trying to Tell You...

   This was our first week as a Family of Three, and by the previous photo, I think you can tell that RLT had another big one!  This week has been one of great communication on RLT's part and misinterpretation on the part of her parents.  We still don't know all of her cries yet.  So, it's been quite an interesting guessing game as to what she is trying to tell us.  We have learned that when she cries and kicks her legs, it's because of gas.  When her fists go in her mouth as she cries it's because she's hungry.  Now, if we were in a dark room, I'm not sure we would be able to distinguish the two! Ha!

     Chad also went back to work this week.  While I have enjoyed mommy-daughter time at home during the day, I have enjoyed watching daddy-daughter time just as much when Chad gets home in the afternoons.  To add to the bonding, Chad also fed RLT for the first time this week!  

     Our favorite part of the week, though, is realizing that RLT can smile...for real!  It's definitely more than gas!  When she makes eye contact with Chad or me, her whole face lights up!  We love it!  And, of course, we love her!

Baths really chill me out...especially when I get to wear the towel Grandpa made me!

     At the end of the week, I took the opportunity to enjoy some nice weather and did some yard work. It was so nice to get outside, but I definitely needed an RLT-fix every now and again...
