Enjoying Meals with Friends

This week, we had two lovely evenings with friends after we celebrated Father's Day.  On Sunday, we took Daddy out to dinner at Guaca Mole.  While there, Buddy tried lemon for the first time!  While the pictures show a face that might look contrary, she must have liked it.  The girl kept coming back for more!

A few days later we went to Mike and Heather's home. While there, the sweet little ones enjoyed swinging on the playground while Mommy went to the McColl Consignment Shop of Baby Clothes.  Just like before RLT's arrival, this trip did not disappoint.  We walked out with four garbage bags full of clothes to get Bugga through the next year.  Thanks Mike and Heather!!!
We also spent an evening with Daniel, Catherine, and their sweet little girl.  These two were born only a fews days apart.  It was so nice to put some high chairs outside and enjoy the grill.  We also broke in our new fire pit with some s'mores.  Yummy!  Thanks, Mom and Gary, for the pit.  It is awesome!

Baby Girl also got her third tooth this week.  One of her upper-middles came in.  We think it's match is on its way because the drool has increased as well as the itching of the ear.  She tends to tug at her ear each time a tooth is about to break through.

And finally, we'd like to highlight that our sweet baby has developed a love of being under things!  Maybe she'll be the next Michelangelo!

RLT's 31st Week

We spent the week going to the zoo and relaxing at home as our sweet baby girl turned seven months old.  At the end of the week, we went to Indy to visit family.  It was so nice to see everyone and enjoy the beautiful weather and delicious food on Aunt Jodi and Uncle Tim's deck!

RLT is 7 Months Old!

Our little girl is seven months old today!

Sleeping through the night is still RLT's way to go.  What has changed is that she visits every inch of her crib during the night!  She rolls around so much that she completes a full 360 before the sun comes up!

Our sweet daughter is still very sweet.  She smiles and giggles now more than ever.  While she is still a "church baby," meaning she will pretty much let anyone hold her, she does have moments when all she wants is Mommy.  Mommy doesn't mind! (Editor's Note: Daddy gets jealous, though.)

Bugga now has her two front bottom teeth.  They are so cute!  She can sit up on her own without any assistance until she starts playing with something that is not attached to anything.  When she brings that toy to her mouth and draws her head back, so too goes her body.  She doesn't seem to mind bonking her head though!  Once laying down, she wastes no time in getting where she wants to go.  Sweet Girl rolls this way and that.  She pushes up all of the way as if she wants to crawl, but she's not quite on the move yet.

Food has been another adventure that Buddy has tried this month.  She will eat wear most of what we try to give her, but she'll still give it a try.  So far, she prefers bananas.  Warm carrots run a close second, but squash is definitely at the bottom of the list!

RLT is really taking to books lately.  She wants to turn the pages and feel the different textures.  We're so proud!  She has also taken out her old friend Sophie the giraffe.  Gnawing on the ears is her favorite thing to do now that she is teething.

Finger Lickin' Good

Chad had a concert at the beginning of this week with Voces Nove.  This was his last concert as the season comes to a close.  We are thrilled that he will be home more in the evenings, but we're going to have to find other occasions to wear the tux!

In an effort to deepen our connection (hardy har har) to one another, I decided to search for a new job like Chad.   Ha!  Seriously, though, I did apply for a Literacy Coach position for next school year.  After the interview, I just knew that I didn't get it.  It wasn't one of those feelings like "I'm sure I won't get it", but then you actually do.  No, this was one of those times when I was slightly embarrassed as I was leaving the interview.  I could just tell by the body language of the five people who were interviewing me that I was not what they were looking for at this time.  While I am disappointed, I will not be deterred.  When this opportunity arises again, I will try again.
Chad continues his job hunt as well.  He spends much of his days on the networking site Linked-In.  He has also been introduced to a few people and has networked with others at Churchill Downs a bit this week.  Hmmm...being unemployed means you get to go the track?!?!?

Later on in the week, RLT spent a day with Aunt Julie and Curly Girl.  They spent the day walking to the park near their house and playing together.  All I know is they must have played hard because our sweet little girl was zonked when she got home that afternoon!

At the end of the week, Grammy and Grandpa came in town to continue the house hunt.  It was a quick weekend, but so nice!

And finally, I have failed to blog about Buga's new adventures with food up until this point.  For the past three or four weeks, we have been introducing fruits and vegetables to our little girl.  While she doesn't get real excited about anything quite yet, she will take a few bites of most things.  This is true for both bananas and warmed carrots.  She has been repulsed by only two foods so far, apples and squash.  And when I say repulsed, I mean the girl gagged and even shivered with disgust.  We aren't giving up on apples just yet though.  She's more receptive when they're mixed with the bananas.  So, we're going with that!

I want to hold the spoon!

Cars, Barbecue, and Bad Smells

Grandpa gave us tickets to the Indy 500, so we invited Laura and Jeremy to go.  We met up with Ray, Barb, and Rachael Clark at their usual parking spot.  The spot was within a mile of the track and had ultra-clean bathrooms...thank goodness!  Let's just say I don't think this club for gentlemen makes it's money during the day!  It was an early morning, but as Ray put it, "We're ahead of schedule!"

The race, itself, was neat.  The cars were fast, and two or three of the wrecks ended up stopping right in front of our seats. No one was injured!  It was a really nice day!  Thanks to the all of the families that kept our little ones.  We really enjoyed our adult-time!

The following day was Memorial Day.  We went to my parents' for barbecue.  Mmm..it was so good!

Now that school is out for the summer, we took advantage of a cool morning and went to the zoo.  We had a blast.  RLT was very alert and interested in the different animals and plants.  She didn't necessarily notice any smells, but Mommy and Daddy sure did!

Watching the sea lions being trained

This is right before Mommy and Daddy noticed the smells!

It's time to go home!  Can you tell?!?

At the end of the week, we went to Jenna and Russell's for a cookout.  Holly and Chad were there too.  It was so much fun to just relax with all of our daughters and enjoy each other's company.  The older girls love playing dress up and thought RLT would too!
