Summer is winding down and we have been cherishing every moment with RLT. The weather has been incredible this past week so we have taken advantage of it. We've made our last summer trips to see GiGi in Indy, the Zoo, and the Big Four; and we've even spent a lot more time working out at the farm. Homegirl really loves to feel the breeze in her hair and the sun on her face (we're going to have to teach her the importance of sunscreen early!).
Speaking of her fair complexion, our little doll has taken to throwing mini-tantrums when Mommy or Daddy leave the room. Although we hate to see her cry, it is a nice feeling being loved so much that someone will scream her face off to get you to come back into the room. I say "scream her face off" because the poor girl gets incredibly red faced and blotchy any time she sheds a tear. (We'll have to teach her the importance of composure soon, too!) We've loved every minute we've had with her this summer; and although we're sad to get back to the grind, we are excited to see what changes a new school year will bring.
Mom can't wait to get back to school!
Just kidding...she's gonna miss her mid-morning snuggles.
This week was Mommy & Daddy's 2 year wedding anniversary. Happy Anniversary, Babe, I love you! Thank you to Grandma Honey Dearie and Pop for giving us a chance to go out and celebrate!
We also cherished the opportunity to meet the new Baby Tremayne. We took dinner over on Friday and met the sweet, new nugget. It was fun and reminiscent to hold a peaceful, sleeping newborn. It was also neat to be able to compare our two girls and see how quickly ours has grown in just 8 months!
After a long search process, Grammy and Grandpa closed on their house this week! We have been scrubbing cabinets, cutting grass, swimming, cutting grass, weeding, and did I mention cutting grass?!? We are just so thrilled that they are here!
RLT is still sleeping until about 5:00am every night after going to bed at around 7:30pm. During the day, she will easily skip naps if we are busy running errands or doing something that is engaging. As long as she is fed, she is a happy baby!
Sweet Bugga is becoming more and more of a Mommy's Girl. She will be playing and look up every few minutes to make sure that Mama is still in the room. If not, she'll lean over and try to look around whatever is in her way to try and find her. Mommy has to admit, that she dreamed of a baby reaching for her for so long that she loves these moments a whole lot!
Buddy now has five teeth! Those chompers make her look like such a big girl. She uses them to bite on her sleep sacks or wash cloths. Yes, she still loves fabric! She also likes to snag pieces of lemons with them. Her sour faces are fantastic! Other pureed foods she enjoys are pears, apples, and blueberries.
Our precious angel is definitely mobile. Her preferred method is by rolling, and boy she is quick! She has begun to pull with her arms and push with her legs while her tummy is flat on the floor. We have a feeling that crawling is just around the corner!
RLT has begun to actually play this month. Instead of just seeing a toy and picking it up, she deliberately looks for something and then manipulates for fun. She especially loves playing with the wooden blocks that were Daddy's when he was a baby. She'll pick them out of the box and hit them together. She'll drop them behind her and get two more out. It is really cute! Baby Girl also loves bags with handles-especially a wine gift bag that she got a hold of this month. She loves that thing!
This week was spent celebrating Chad's Birthday followed by mine. Our sweet Buddy tried her hand at baking cookies for Daddy and brownies for Mommy. She is quite a baker! We spent our respective days at the zoo and Bernheim Forest near Bardstown.
The 4th of July was spent enjoying the inside for most of the day as rain continued to fall. The upside is that Chad's garden is flourishing. We have enjoyed eating his cucumbers and watching the tomatoes and peppers begin to grow.
Bugga has begun to eat solids with a bit more excitement this week as well. She's not replacing any feedings yet, but she is kicking her legs and opening her mouth for more-especially when pears are involved!
At the end of the week, Chad took a tumble when he was running. He was running at a pretty good clip when the side of his foot stepped off of the edge of the sidewalk. To make matters worse, he was 20 minutes away from home and hobbled all of the way back. The swelling looked bad enough that we went to get it x-rayed. Thank goodness it is only a sprain. It's a pretty severe sprain, but it's not broken!
This week was a Girls' Week! Chad co-directed CYF Camp at Wa Kon' Da-Ho so RLT and I spent the week as a duo. We played with toys, swung in the backyard, and spent a couple of days up in Indy with Grandma Honey Dearie and Gi-Gi.
How many days until Daddy comes home?
It was a pretty low key week until I turned off the light one night to enjoy a little slumber. I was almost off to dream land when I heard one of our cats moaning as if she was bringing me a toy to play with. This moan, though, sounded distressed so my initial thought was that she was dying. I know that seems a bit drastic, but you have to understand that this particular kitty, Little Foot, is older and not exactly healthy. We have referred to her as Poor Little Foot for some time now. So it wouldn't come as a great shock if, in fact, she did pass away. But I digress. I turned on the light to see what was going on, and that's when Fievel fell out of Little Foot's mouth and scurried under the bed. Yes folks, a real live mouse under my bed!
With Chad at camp, I felt it only right to call and let him know how thrilled I was that he was there and not at home. It was 11:30 pm. Thank goodness storms were approaching Camp Wa Kon' Da-Ho because he was still up watching the radar. I let him know how thrilled I was that he was not at home. He suggested that I get a broom and sweep the teeny tiny mouse out from under the bed. I, sitting on the center-most part of the bed, let him know that he was out of his mind! This giant mouse had little paws that might scamper across me and completely freak me out! Not to mention, it would be his fault if the baby were to wake up because I had to scream!
As my nerves began to simmer, I decided to just leave it up to the cats. I quickly ran out of the room, jammed a towel under the door, and hoped the kitties would take care of it as I tried to sleep on the couch.
The next morning, we were heading up to Indy to visit Gi-Gi so I asked Gary to come over and set a trap. Thanks Gary! Unfortunately, though, the trap was empty when RLT and I got home the next day. The cats were no longer interested so I can only assume that the mouse slipped through a vent or floor board and is back outside. Yes, I'm certain that it's no longer inside. There is absolutely no way that the mouse is still under the bed. Surely!
On Saturday, Chad came home from what he called a great week camp. Thank goodness! Bugga and I were so glad to see him!
